lovin this update, though just digging in the ground gets you no where, like what if there would be airpockets of something down there?

Like the update, spaceman control is cool and the context menus are a really good idea.
A few of my thoughts and questions below.
When the spaceman dies can the game go straight to the pause menu.
Could bombs only be used by the spaceman.
Could bombs only affect the terrain and not destroy gold/gems (the collectibles could fall to the ground?)
Whats the purpose of collecting gems.
How would a player complete a map.
What are the flashing pink indicators on the mini map? (the cyan and grey pixels in the actual game map)

Glad you guys like the update!

    @Ken:
Straight to pause menu is a great idea… will implement in the next update for sure.

I thought it might be a nice tradeoff to using bombs ( that they also destroy resources ), but maybe that’s too harsh?

As far as a purpose for collecting gems, I think I’d like to eventually add a store in order to buy things. What do you think?

As far as completing a map… that’s a very good question that I don’t have an answer to yet. Any thoughts?

The flashing indicators on the mini-map denote the player’s position ( blue ) and the mission spacemen positions ( purple ).

    Hope that helps!

This app is crashing. Here is what happens: I click on the Rocket Bits icon. I click play. I click: MAKE IT!. Then is says “CREATING MAP…” Then it crashes! I have tried this over 20 times, with the same result.

I have a 2nd gen iPod. It has less than 1gb left on it. I do have other apps that crash sometimes on my iPod, but not like this, every time! I think that this is a bug of some sort. If I am doing something wrong, by all means, tell me! I would try out all of the new things included in this update.

    Oh noes!!!

It might have to do with the amount of memory available on your device. I unfortunately don’t have a 2nd gen iPod so I can’t test it on that configuration. The new map generation code is definitely more intensive that the previous update.

I’ll see what I can do to debug it and maybe figure out a way to send you patches to get it running again. I’ll keep you posted…

In the mean time, I’m really sorry you can’t play the update. Is there anyone else you know of that has a 2nd gen iPod touch? If so, maybe they can test it as well. If they get the same crash it definitely has something to do with that particular version of the iPod touch. If not, we’ll have to figure out why your specific device is having issues.

I have a 2nd gen touch with little memory left and it runs fine. I’ll check tonight exactly how much spare memory there is.

Thanks for checking it out, Ken! Good to know it’s not affecting all 2nd gen iPod touch devices.

Kaleb, one thing you could try is resetting your device. That might do the trick.

I will ask my friend that I know if it is crashing on his 2nd gen iPod. I deleted some other apps, so now I have about 1.5 gb available. It still crashes! I also restarted my iPod, (You know, held the power button for 5 seconds), but that is not working either.

  9. Wednesday, January 18th, 2012Kaleb says:

Oh my Golly! It worked! The first time that I powered off my iPod completely until the red slider bar appeared, It did not work. Then I tried it a 2nd time, and it worked!

Very strange! Well whatever it was, I’m glad you’re able to play the game now! Have fun :)

    Hey Kid!

I just picked up the game not long ago and have fallen in love with the game. BUT I NEED MORE! XD here’s my thoughts!

Be able to mine rocks and turn them into stuff, sorta like crafting.
Im thinking like being able to build stuff out of the stuff you mine?

Possibility of maybe being able to fly a little fast with the jetpack, character customization.
I also seen you mention something about a shop, Excellent Idea! Make it happen please.
I see a lot of potential in this game and can’t wait to see it progress. :)

Kaleb, I have just under 600 mb free and have never had any crashes. Maybe its down to the full power down as I rarely leave mine in sleep mode.

I’m liking this update, along with the steady evolution into whatever the game becomes.

I sorta don’t want it to get too complex — and I have a very low bar in what I consider “complex”. The store idea, crafting, etc. all fall under that category. I realize there’s not much point to the game right now, but I appreciate that. Very easy pick-up-and-play with no commitment.

    That said, a few ideas:

    - Love the bombs, especially their (seeming) randomness in the size of the explosions. Consider forcing your spaceman to reenter the ship, or get out of the blast radius, or else he gets killed by the explosion? So connected to that, yes, have only your spaceman be able to plant bombs (not the ship).

    - Similarly, the mission spacemen can also be killed by bombs. Forces you to think before bombing.

    - Consider “burying” some gold/platinum/rubies below the surface so you’re forced to dig for them. Some pixels seem to already be placed like this, leading to strategic bombing or rocket-crashing; but I’d like to see them buried 4-5 pixels “deep”.

    - Keep the gold/plat/rubies fragile. Part of the challenge.

    - Maybe a competing ship, starting on the opposite end of the map, also mining? The game becomes a race to scoop up more gold etc. than the other guy, and each round ends when you both have cleared the map.

Keep up the good work, and can’t wait for the next update.

As usual, you guys are giving awesome feedback! Keep it up and thanks :)

I really like the idea of this app. It has great potential.

I’d like to be rewarded over the games (probably keeping your ressources?), as always starting with nothing, although I played it before is not very motivating. =)

Good work so far, keep it up!

I like the idea of one v one also, whether that be part of the main game mode or separate multiplayer mode.
Setting traps etc for the opposing player/players could be cool, kinda like spy vs spy. As the maps are quite large a pop up notification of a successful trap kill would be nice.
One cool idea could be the spaceman can defuse opposing players proximity bombs.

  17. Wednesday, February 8th, 2012Ken Kercheval says:

I’m not sure if you want an actual story mode or just a series of Single and Multiplayer challenges to form the main bulk of the game. Personally I’d love to battle other players, there’s so much scope for lots of cool weapons and items.
